Everything you need to know about our Geocaching Adventure trail should be below!

What is Geocaching?

  • Geocaching is a modern day treasure hunt for families...
  • Use your smart phone, the Geocaching app and the Geocache website (alongside any GPS equipment you may want to use) to find 'caches' (or hidden treasure) in popular Welsh locations.
  • The website and app will show you hints, tips and clues to help navigate your way to hidden caches.
  • Find the cache and sign it, then detail your find on the Geocache website and help others.
  • Teach the kids navigational skills and have a fun day out with the family!

For more information on Geocaching, please visit their website: http://www.geocaching.com/

You can browse all the cache listings on the Geocache website and you can sign up for free membership too.

Many people download the app and navigate to the caches on-site. Use your iphone or iPad to do this, or visit itunes app store

I haven't done Geocaching before but I'm interested. How do I get involved?

It's easy! Follow these steps:Inside the Geocache Box

  • Got the Geocache app? Found the website? Great!
  • Browse our 10 cache locations below and find out where you want to go.
  • Click on the correct location name and find out more about the exact location.
  • When you arrive at your chosen location, turn on the app, or pull out your co-ordinates and navigate your way to the cache. (It's a little like following Google Maps).
  • Here is an image of what the cache will look like:

I've found it! I've discovered the cache! What do I do now?

  • Sign it! - Look out for the purple keyring, which contains the Log that you must sign!
  • It's custom that most Geocache's come with its very own log book for each finder to sign. Make sure all members of the family sign their name.
  • The log is hidden in its own container.
  • Look out for the disposable cameras in the cache, take pictures of yourself with the log!
  • If you have remembered to bring your own treat that you'd like to leave behind then please do.
