Countryside & gardens

North Wales Borderlands is a place full of enchanted gardens – where you almost expect to find a real, live Alice playing croquet and the Queen of Hearts’ soldiers painting the roses. From the majestic to the quirky you’ll find all sorts of wonders along our garden paths. Take the gardens at Erddig Hall and Chirk Castle for example; they’re magic, with their elaborate hedgerows and beautiful water features. Great places for children to play and for grown-ups to ... well ... just take a relaxing stroll. There’s a wishing well at Plas Newydd in Llangollen. Why not try your luck? North Wales Borderlands is a place where wishes come true. More detailed information on countryside and gardens is available in What to see and do.

When they weren't busy having Wales' first official Civil Partnership they laid out one of North Wales' prettiest gardens. Find out more...

Country parks

You might meet some very interesting characters at our country parks. Pot-bellied pigs and llamas at Ty Mawr, exotic fowl at Pen-y-Ffrith, plus the Black Grouse – one of Wales’ rarest birds - which resides on the Clwydian Range.
