The arts

This part of Wales is a real artistic hotbed. Its home to one of the most important theatres in Wales. That’s Clwyd Theatr Cymru – the Theatre of Wales. Famous classics and cutting-edge new productions are regularly staged here. You can also find a year-round programme of concerts and festivals at the Royal International Pavilion in Llangollen – including the annual International Musical Eisteddfod. All over the country, lots of towns and villages hold their own eisteddfod each year – but Llangollen’s is the daddy of them all. Pavarotti, Jose Carrerras, Katherine Jenkins and Lesley Garret have all performed here! More detailed arts information is available in What to see and do.

Everyone in the field or the tent is Welsh for the day, whether they come from Perth or Patagonia. The most famous eisteddfod of them all happens in Llangollen every year. Miss it at your peril.
