Enjoy one last family winter break this year in the North Wales
Borderlands. The picturesque landscape and historic sites are an
ideal setting for a family break.
There is a range of actives to entertain all of the family from
an Olympic sized ice rink to a woodland skills centre.
Deeside Ice Rink is in the National Centre for Ice Sports in
Wales attracting over 100,000 skaters every year fro
m all
over the country. Although it is an Olympic sized ice rink you
don't have to be an Olympic skater, in fact far from it. Ice
skating is the perfect exercise for all ages, as it is one of the
few sports in which the whole family can take part in. Deeside also
has a skate park that has recently opened, for any avid skaters
wanting to have a go.
Why not explore the nooks and crannies of Ruthin Gaol which was
once a prison. It is now one of North Wales' most fascinating
buildings offering a range of activities such as ghost hunting,
commitment ceremonies and arty parties. You can also view the
Pentonville cell block and learn about the Victorian period and how
prisoners lived there life.
For a fun filled day out the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park is
an award winning museum set in a 70-acre heritage park with
woodlands, reservoirs and ancient monuments. The park has an
attractive collection of original and reconstructed local buildings
provide a fascinating insight into the past. For the children we
have farm animals, Toddler Tractor Heaven, the Mega Tower Maze and
an adventure playground.
Are your family hand on and creative or even just fancy learning
a new skill? Woodland Skills Centre is located in the heart of the
Clwydian Range area of outstanding natural beauty. The Woodlands
Skills Centre runs craft courses for all ages and abilities, family
days and week-ends in the woods, holiday club and birthday
parties.
