Mold Food Festival Huge Success

At the end of September thousands of people visited Mold for it's now annual Food & Drink Festival, which, as in previous years was a huge success!

John Les Tomos, Chairman of the Mold Food & Drink Festival said, "It has been another outstanding festival.  We have seen around 12,500 visitors attend this weekend from far and wide which is phenomenal, and even more than last year [...]  I really must say a massive thank you to everyone involved with organising the festival and making it such a great weekend."

The culinary festival hosted over 95 exhibitors selling everything from delicious cheeses, fresh meat and local beers to honey, ice creams, scrumptious homemade cakes and specially produced Welsh liqueurs.  Many exhibitors were from the local area but others had travelled from much further afield.

A real highlight of the event was the beekeeping exhibition and honey show which was in its own marquee on site. Visitors could watch the bees and the honey making process in the observation hives as well as being able to buy a wide range of products made with honey, from cakes to, so soaps and candles to mead!

Celebrity chef Jean- Christophe Novelli was another crowd pleaser, packing out the cookery theatre with three fantastic demonstrations after he had done an exclusive mini demo in the Interactive Zone for a select audience watched on by some very excited Deeside College students.

The hotly anticipated Best of Welsh Bake Off was also a big success, with more than 50 entries, and was judged by Ginny Greatbatch and Olwenna Roberts of the WI. The cutest entry by far was from a school in Ruthin where the children had backed a bara brith to their own very special recipe.

This is just a snapshot of some of the great events that happened during the festival but there was too much to fit into a little blog post and everything was so exciting!
